Ecological Life, Etc.

A few weeks ago we celebrated Earth Day by giving away this book.

teNeues publishes a plethora of books featuring ecological design and architecture; of both houses as well as hotels.

A very green home. From our book, "Ecological Houses."

Ecological Living showcases 33 different ecological houses across the globe.

The book opens with a forward by Elkie Weiler:

“To an architect, every environment presents a new challenge, but also creates methods and resources. Utilizing the sites natural potential is often the first step in ecological design, as well as applying the local traditional building methods, rich in knowledgeable experience to overcome local climactic conditions, and resourcing material locally; thereby, eliminating the energy wasted for transporting goods.”

Of the many houses displayed in the book, we’re particularly fond of architect Collett Zarzyck¬† Ltd and Robert Dallas’s “Yasinia,” a very comely abode with rubble-stone walls.

Located in Grasse, France, Yasinia comes complete with solid walls (serves as a substitute for A/C) as well as this very dreamy pool. Evaporation aids to cool the place down as well.

If you don’t already want to move in to this green scene, then just take a peek at its interior:

There you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Yasinia. Just one of many beautiful aspects of Ecological Living.
